In my class, we have GRIT: Grace, Respect, Integrity, and Truthfulness.
In addition to following the Diamond Canyon Coyote Code, we strive to exemplify these characteristics in order to ensure a safe, productive, and welcoming learning environment.
Here's what it looks like to have GRIT:
Grace - We forgive others and ourselves when we make mistakes, have patience when it takes time to learn something new, and always get up and try again! We remember that we are all on the same team, striving toward the same goal: learning. Growth takes grace!
Respect - We follow the Coyote Code and always treat ourselves and others with the respect they are due. This means following all school- and class-wide expectations at all times. Having respect also means we use learning supplies as learning supplies, not toys. Finally, we will always work to respect everyone's time, learning, and belongings. We will have fun when it's time to have fun, and we will learn when it's time to learn!
Integrity - This means that we strive to do the right thing even when no one is looking. We always aim to help others, ask questions, and be a good example to someone else!
Truthfulness - We always tell the truth, even when it isn't easy. We own our mistakes, knowing that they help us grow, and we always aim to speak the truth in love! (Remember that just because something is true, that does not mean it is kind or needs to be said).
Finally, having GRIT means having grit! We persevere when things get tough, we keep asking questions, and we always give our very best!
